Biography

Kurt David Palmer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Southern California. He earned his Ph.D. in Industrial Systems Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1998, an M.S. in Applied Statistics from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1990, and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1982. Before joining the faculty at USC, he worked for six years as a Manufacturing Engineer at Eastman Kodak Company and owned a Quality Management Consulting firm in Rochester, NY for four years. Dr. Palmer has been a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers since 1982, the American Society for Quality since 1989, and is a Certified Quality Engineer since 1990. He has also been affiliated with the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers since 1999 and the American Society for Engineering Education since 2006. His research interests focus on engineering statistics, response surface methodology, data collection in computer experiments, empirical model building techniques, uncertainty sensitivity analysis, and cluster analysis.
