Biography

Kurt Teichert is a Senior Lecturer at Brown University specializing in the Environment and Society program. He teaches courses that focus on sustainable design, environmental stewardship, urban infrastructure, and transportation technology policy. Since establishing an environmental education advocacy initiative in 1990, he has been dedicated to linking student research with educational efforts to implement programs that reduce negative environmental impacts. Teichert joined Brown in 1992 to manage this initiative and has been actively involved in the research, design, and construction of high-performance educational facilities for over 30 years. He is a committed member of the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association and serves on the Rhode Island Energy Efficiency & Resource Management Council, as well as the Board of the Green Energy Consumers Alliance. Prior to his tenure at Brown, Teichert worked as a Research Associate and Facilities Manager at the New Alchemy Institute. He holds a Master's degree from Brown University, a Master of Science in Agricultural Resource Economics from Oregon State University, and a Bachelor's degree from Franklin Marshall College.
