Biography

Kurtis Kasper is a Professor and Research Director at The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston. He earned his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Rice University in 2006 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 1999. He transitioned to the Department of Orthodontics at UTHealth in July 2014 after serving six years in the Department of Bioengineering at Rice University. Dr. Kasper's research focuses on applying engineering principles, materials science, and biosciences to develop and evaluate biomaterial-based technologies that meet clinical needs, particularly in 3D printing and tissue regeneration. He has been the principal investigator for several National Institutes of Health and U.S. Department of Defense projects, leading to significant advancements in craniofacial bone regeneration and cartilage repair. Dr. Kasper has authored over 145 peer-reviewed publications and holds 2 patents. His significant contributions to the field have been recognized through numerous awards, including the Young Investigator Award from the Society for Biomaterials and the Outstanding Bioengineering Graduate Alumnus Award from Rice University.
