Dr. Kwok Ong

Biography

Kwok Leung Ong is a Senior Research Fellow in the Lipid Research Group at the School of Medical Sciences, University of New South Wales. His research primarily focuses on the association of plasma biomarkers and genetic markers with cardiovascular risk factors, dyslipidaemia, diabetes, hypertension, and metabolic syndrome epidemiology. He investigates the anti-inflammatory effects of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, associated apolipoproteins, and drugs commonly used for cardiovascular risk reduction such as statins and fenofibrate. Dr. Ong serves on the editorial boards of several international journals and has reviewed for leading medical journals, contributing to the academic community's understanding of cardiovascular health. He has also been involved in grant application reviews for the National Health Medical Research Council and other agencies. Dr. Ong has received numerous research grant funding supports throughout his career, underscoring his expertise in cardiovascular research and his commitment to improving treatment outcomes for chronic diseases.
