Kyi Tha joined the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine & Health Sciences at Monash University Malaysia on February 8, 2011, as a Senior Lecturer in Pharmacology within the Department of Biomedical Sciences. He graduated with an M.B.,B.S. from the University of Medicine (2) in Yangon, Myanmar in 1990 and began his career in clinical research at the Clinical Research Unit Malaria at the Defence Services General Hospital in Yangon. He was appointed as a lecturer in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Medicine (2) in Yangon in 1992 and served until 1997. Awarded a Japanese Government Scholarship, he pursued his Ph.D. in Pharmacology at Hokkaido University, Japan, completing it in 2001. Following his doctorate, he continued as a senior lecturer at the University of Medicine (1) in Yangon. Before joining Monash University, he held the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences at the Faculty of Pharmacy, International Islamic University Malaysia from 2005 to 2010. His professional memberships include being a fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK and various medical councils in Malaysia and Myanmar. His research interests focus on Neuropharmacology, Clinical Pharmacology, and Medical Education, among other areas. He actively participates in teaching and coordinating various programs related to Medicine and Pharmacology at Monash University.
