Biography

Kyi Zay Hta is a Research Fellow at the Future Southeast Asian Centre for Workplace Wellbeing, Monash University Malaysia. She holds a PhD in Psychology and a Master of Professional Counselling from Monash University Malaysia. Her current research interests focus on facets of wellbeing, mental health, psychological safety, and stigma in the workplace. Zay Hta has significant experience in areas related to health-related stigma and cultural and indigenous psychology. As a registered and licensed counsellor with the Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia and the Australian Counselling Association, she volunteers her expertise to bridge theory and practice in mental health. Zay Hta's work contributes to various UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in education and mental health. Her academic qualifications include a PhD in Psychology entitled 'Decolonizing Reconstructing Concept Stigma related to the COVID-19 Pandemic'. She also holds a Master's degree in Professional Counselling from Monash University Malaysia and a Bachelor's degree with Honours in Psychology from Sunway University. Her research areas include Cultural Psychology, Mental Health, Wellbeing, Cross-Cultural Psychology, Organisational Psychology, and Mixed-Methods research. Over the past five years, she has engaged in collaborative research projects with external partners across Asia, America, Australia, and Europe, focusing on shared publications and projects.
