Dr. Kyla Ebels Duggan

Biography

Kyla Ebels-Duggan is a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Northwestern University. Her research focuses on contemporary issues in moral and political philosophy, especially concerning public reason and Kant's ethical theories. With published work that includes explorations in philosophy of religion, moral education, and interpersonal relationships, she is deeply engaged in understanding the nature of reasons that underpin the valuing of people and things. Her ongoing projects include book manuscripts that investigate the implications of Iris Murdoch's ethical theory, presenting it systematically to address pertinent questions in contemporary ethics. In her role as Director of the Brady Scholars Program and as a fellow in the Kaplan Institute for the Humanities, she fosters scholarly dialogue and ethical education.
