Biography

Kyle Carter is an Associate Professor at Western University, specializing in Family Medicine. He graduated from the Schulich School of Medicine at Western University in 2011 and completed his Family Medicine training at the Southwest Middlesex Health Centre in 2013. Following his training, Dr. Carter pursued a fellowship in Emergency Medicine at Western University and worked as a full-time emergency physician at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. In 2015, he joined Western University as a clinical teacher at the Southwest Middlesex Health Centre, where he now oversees residency training. Dr. Carter has received multiple teaching awards, including the Core Regional Family Medicine Teacher award and the prestigious Ian McWhinney teaching award. His academic interests encompass point-of-care ultrasound, simulation-based critical event teaching, and allergy medicine. He is also the Program Director for the enhanced skills training program at Western University, guiding family medicine residents pursuing additional fellowships. Outside of medicine, Dr. Carter enjoys spending time at his cottage in the Muskokas with his wife and four children. He is an avid fisherman and hunter, and he also coaches his children’s sports teams.
