Biography

Kyle Duncan is an Adjunct Professor at Vancouver Island University in the Department of Chemistry. He completed his Bachelor of Science at Vancouver Island University and earned his PhD from the University of Victoria, where he was based in the Applied Environmental Research labs. Afterward, he spent four and a half years in Sweden as a postdoctoral fellow and senior researcher at Uppsala University before returning to the west coast of British Columbia. His research interests primarily revolve around bioanalytical mass spectrometry and metabolomics, particularly using novel approaches to spatially map small molecules in tissues to investigate metabolite and lipid changes in biological samples that are indicative of health and disease. Currently, Kyle teaches first-year chemistry courses while also being actively involved in upper-level analytical chemistry courses at Vancouver Island University. Furthermore, he is looking to collaborate with graduate students from the University of Victoria for his ongoing research projects.
