Dr. Kyle Hanniman

Biography

Kyle Hanniman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Studies at Queen's University, where he also serves as the Director of the Institute of Intergovernmental Relations. He completed his PhD at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned his BA from St. Thomas University. Prior to joining Queen's, he was a policy associate at the University of Toronto’s Mowat Centre and worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the Institute on Municipal Finance and Governance at the University of Toronto. His research interests encompass comparative federalism, political economy, public debt, and Canadian politics, particularly focusing on fiscal federalism and government default risk. Hanniman has contributed significantly to the field through various publications and ongoing research projects, and is keen on supervising graduate students in relevant areas of Canadian and comparative politics.
