Biography

Kyle Logue is the Douglas Kahn Collegiate Professor at the University of Michigan Law School, where he teaches and writes primarily in the areas of torts, tax, and insurance. His scholarly interests are wide-ranging and he employs insights from various disciplines, including economics, psychology, and philosophy, to analyze topics related to law, policy, and legal theory. Logue is currently studying the proper role of private and public law and the implications of insurance regimes in responding to natural and manmade risks. He has published numerous articles in leading law reviews and peer-reviewed journals and is a co-author of prominent insurance law casebooks, such as 'Insurance Law and Policy: Cases and Materials' (5th ed. 2021). A member of the American Law Institute since 2010, he served as associate reporter for the ALI’s Restatement of the Law of Liability Insurance, which was completed in 2018. Logue has held various administrative roles at the Law School, including interim dean from January 2024 to July 2025, associate dean for academic affairs from 2006 to 2008, and associate dean for faculty research from January 2022 to 2023. Before joining the Michigan Law faculty, he practiced law in Atlanta.
