Dr. Kyshia Henderson

Biography

Kyshia Henderson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Chicago. She joined the department in 2023 after completing her role as a Provost’s Postdoctoral Fellow. Henderson earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Virginia. Her research focuses on social psychology, particularly how White Americans justify and promote racism. Her work critically examines the ways in which White Americans ignore, dismiss, and distort historical truths that contribute to the promotion of white supremacy. By taking into account the historical context, Henderson strives to provide a framework for understanding how this historical context informs psychological science.
