Laboratory of Affective Neurogenetics focuses on understanding the biological levels of control that manage the highly complex emotional world. The work conducted at the lab centers on answering questions about how genes functionally influence brain circuitries critical for perception, cognition, and higher-order adaptive processing of emotionally-laden information and experiences. Additionally, the lab aims to understand biologically-mediated behavioral processes that develop to enable adaptive functions. An integral part of the research also involves studying what maladaptive aspects of developmental processes lead to the emergence of prevalent mood and affective disorders.
