Lachlan Black joined the School of Engineering at The Australian National University as a Research Fellow in 2018 and became a Senior Research Fellow in 2023. Prior to that, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Applied Physics at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands. His research focuses on novel thin-film materials prepared by atomic layer deposition for III-V semiconductor nanowires and crystalline silicon solar cells. Lachlan obtained his PhD from ANU in 2015, with a thesis centered on the surface passivation of crystalline silicon photovoltaic applications. He has significant experience in collaboration with Australian and international industry partners and has contributed to advancing sustainable solar energy technologies, which are essential for addressing climate change. He has received more than $8 million in competitive grant funding and has been recognized with awards for his PhD thesis. He actively lectures courses related to photovoltaic technologies and sustainable energy systems, and regularly supervises research students.
