Dr. Lai Cheah

Biography

Sarah Cheah is an Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School, specializing in business model innovation, corporate entrepreneurship, early-stage technology development, and commercialization. She teaches courses in Corporate Entrepreneurship and Social Entrepreneurship at both the undergraduate and MBA levels. Cheah has served on the International Advisory Committee for the Department of Interaction Science and the Department of Applied Artificial Intelligence at Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea. She has led consulting initiatives focusing on innovation across various business federations and multinational corporations. As a consultant for the National Robotics R&D Programme Office, she specializes in robotics road-mapping and commercialization strategies. Cheah advises venture capital firms on strategic investments and has delivered executive training for corporations and policymakers across several Southeast Asian countries. She has also held significant roles such as Vice President of A*STAR's commercialization division and has contributed to reviewing government policies on intellectual property and commercialization. Cheah received her PhD in Business Management from the University of South Australia and holds both an MBA (Banking & Finance) from Nanyang Technological University and a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) from NUS, where she was awarded the Prime Minister’s Book Prize for academic excellence.
