Biography

Lakshmi Das is currently a Postdoctoral fellow in the Ultrafast Nanoscience research group at Umeå University. She earned her PhD from the University of Zurich, where her research focused on transport spectroscopic measurements in strongly correlated materials, particularly Dirac and Weyl semimetals. Das received the Wenner-Gren postdoctoral fellowship for foreign postdoctoral students, which allowed her to join Nicolò Maccaferri’s lab at Umeå University. Her present research involves leveraging her expertise and experience in implementing ultrafast pump-probe measurements to investigate antiferromagnetic, topologically nontrivial materials. This work aims to provide insights into ultrafast magnetization dynamics and to understand the fundamental phenomena with potential applications in spintronics. In 2024, she contributed to the fabrication and characterization of NiO thin films using the spray-pyrolysis technique, with a focus on structural and optical properties as well as ultrafast charge dynamics. Her research has been published in notable journals including the Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics.
