Biography

Lan Wei is an Associate Professor and Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Microelectronics Economics from Peking University in 2005, followed by a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 2007 and 2010, respectively. Wei's research focuses on device-circuit interactive design optimization, cryogenic CMOS electronics for quantum computing, error-resilient computation, and integrated electronic systems utilizing emerging technologies such as Gallium Nitride (GaN) and resistive random-access memory (RRAM). Prior to joining the University of Waterloo in 2014, he worked at Altera Corporation in San Jose, California, where he was involved in foundry technology evaluation and power management for FPGA product development. He also served as a postdoctoral associate at the Microsystems Technology Laboratories at MIT, collaborating with Professor Dimitri Antoniadis. In addition to his research, he has been an active participant in technical program committees for various academic conferences and co-developed the MIT Virtual Source GaN HEMT Compact Model, an industry-standard model widely used in the field. Wei has received numerous awards for his research and teaching efforts, including the Ontario Early Researcher Award and the University of Waterloo President's Excellence Award.
