Biography

Lara Freed teaches first-year Lawyering and upper-level courses on litigation drafting and client counseling at Cornell Law School. After graduating from Harvard Law School, she worked as a litigator at Bingham McCutchen in Boston, representing corporate clients on a variety of matters and handling pro bono cases in areas such as child welfare and prisoners' rights. Prior to her current role, she taught legal writing and research courses as an Instructor at Brooklyn Law School. Joining the Cornell Law faculty in 2009, Freed is a member of the Massachusetts Bar, the Legal Writing Institute (LWI), and the Finger Lakes Women’s Bar Association. She has served as a delegate for the Association of Legal-Writing Directors and was an editor for the Monograph Series, a publication of the LWI. Currently, Freed is on the Editorial Board of Draft, a peer-reviewed publication that focuses on sharing teaching ideas related to legal research and writing.
