Biography

Lara Latimer graduated with a B.S. in Exercise & Sport Science from Texas Tech University and earned both her master's and Ph.D. in Health Education from the University of Texas at Austin. She has completed postdoctoral work at Cornell University and currently holds a position as an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education at the University of Texas at Austin. Her teaching and research focus on holistic health, personal health, mental health, meditation, and stress management techniques. Lara is actively involved in faculty advising, serving as a committee member for the Austin Women Science and as a faculty advisor for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Campus. She has published several research articles examining topics such as tobacco policies in college settings, weight satisfaction among individuals, and outcomes related to childhood obesity. Lara has received multiple awards, including the Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award from the University of Texas at Austin in 2019 and a Continuing Fellowship from the Educational Annual Fund at the University of Texas at Austin.
