Biography

Lara Latimer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education at the University of Texas at Austin. She graduated with a B.S. in Exercise & Sport Science from Texas Tech University and then obtained her M.A. and Ph.D. in Health Education from the University of Texas at Austin. Additionally, she completed postdoctoral work at Cornell University. Lara teaches from a holistic health perspective, focusing on personal health, mental health, meditation, and stress management techniques. She is actively involved in several committees, including serving as a member of the Faculty Advising Committee for Austin Women in Science and as a Faculty Advisor for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Campus. Her research interests include food behavior, childhood obesity, and health education, with various publications on topics such as tobacco policies on college campuses and interventions for low-income postpartum women. Lara has received multiple awards, including the Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award from the University of Texas at Austin in 2019 and the Continuing Fellowship from the University of Texas at Austin.
