Dr. Larissa Laskowski

Biography

Larissa K. Laskowski is an Assistant Professor in the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine at NYU Langone Health. She specializes in Emergency Medicine and Medical Toxicology, with a particular focus on substance misuse and overdose prevention. As the founding director of the Prevention Education Partnership (PEP), she is committed to addressing the rising concerns of drug misuse among teens and young adults. Her program, 'PEP Talks,' has reached thousands of students, parents, and educators, equipping them with essential knowledge regarding substance use and overdose prevention. In response to the alarming increase in fentanyl-related teen overdoses, she has led the New York State-sponsored Opioid Overdose Prevention Program, providing critical training and resources to schools in New York City to prepare them for opioid emergencies. Larissa believes that empowering patients and communities through education and collaboration is key to preventing substance misuse-related harms. In addition to her clinical work, she actively engages in research focusing on the public health impact of emerging drugs and seeks novel approaches to strengthen community resilience during the opioid crisis. Larissa is dedicated to advancing the fields of emergency medicine, medical toxicology, and school health education, ensuring that communities, especially youth, have the knowledge and tools to stay safe and healthy.
