Dr. Larissa Niec

Biography

Larissa N. Niec, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Counseling Psychology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Case Western Reserve University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Niec's NIH-funded research aims to increase access to evidence-based interventions for underserved families, emphasizing the importance of improving health equity. She is a Global Trainer in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and has published extensively on the effectiveness of this therapy. Recent books authored by Niec include 'Strengthening Parent-Child Relationship Therapy: Laying the Foundation for Healthy Development' and 'Telemental Health Care for Children and Families.' Her work has been featured in prominent media outlets such as the Washington Post and NBC. Niec is actively involved in UW–Madison’s RISE-THRIVE initiative, which seeks to advance mental health interventions and improve community well-being.
