Dr. Larry Cressman

Biography

Larry Cressman is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Michigan's Residential College and has taught Printmaking and Drawing in its Studio Arts Program since 1976, receiving several teaching awards during his tenure. A graduate of the University of Michigan, Cressman earned his M.F.A. in Printmaking Drawing in 1975 and has worked as an artist and educator at various institutions, including the University of Rhode Island and the University of Toledo. His work has been featured in regional and national exhibitions and installations, focusing on the physical line and structural properties of paper. Cressman has contributed to site-specific projects and has maintained an active exhibition schedule, representing his work at the Hill Gallery in Birmingham, Michigan, and his pieces have been part of notable group shows such as "Super-sized: Large Scale Drawing". His artistic explorations have evolved into three-dimensional expressions, primarily through drawing.
