Professor Dr. Larry Crowder

Biography

Larry Crowder is the Edward F. Ricketts Provostial Professor at Stanford University, residing within the Doerr School of Sustainability. He specializes in Marine Ecology and Conservation and is also a Senior Fellow at the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment. His academic work emphasizes the interplay between predation and food web interactions, looking into the mechanisms driving recruitment variability in fish populations, as well as employing population modeling in conservation biology. Crowder has engaged in substantial interdisciplinary research, leading several prominent projects, such as the South Atlantic Bight Recruitment Experiment and the OBIS SEAMAP initiative. His recent focus has included marine conservation strategies addressing bycatch and spatial ecological analyses, solutions for hypoxic dead zones, and the ecological dynamics governing sustainable seafood practices.
