Biography

Larry Pileggi is the Coraluppi Head and Tanoto Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon in 1989. His career includes positions at Westinghouse Research and Development and the University of Texas at Austin. He is a co-founder of Fabbrix Inc. and Extreme DA, both acquired by major companies in the semiconductor industry. Dr. Pileggi has strong interests in digital and analog integrated circuit design as well as design methodologies. He has received numerous accolades, including the Westinghouse Corporation’s highest engineering achievement award and the Presidential Young Investigator award from the National Science Foundation. A respected author, Dr. Pileggi has published over 300 papers and holds 39 U.S. patents. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and an influential figure in the field of electronic design automation. In addition to his research contributions, he is committed to education, having been awarded the B.R. Teare Teaching Award by the Carnegie Institute of Technology. He currently leads initiatives that focus on innovation and education in electrical and computer engineering.
