Biography

Larry Schooler is an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Communication Studies at The University of Texas at Austin. He teaches courses in conflict resolution facilitation, Communication Leadership degree program, the Bridging Disciplines program, and the Plan II Honors program. He is also a mentor to students in the Conflict Resolution and Peace Studies programs and serves as an advisor for Plan II thesis students. His research interests encompass restorative transitional justice, truth and reconciliation commissions, dialogue and deliberation, mediation, and public participation in public policymaking. Schooler is the author of a forthcoming book on North American truth and reconciliation commissions, which serves as a manual for facilitating public meetings. He collaborates with various governmental and nonprofit agencies in roles such as a mediator, facilitator, and communications consultant. Additionally, he holds positions on the Board of Directors for the National Coalition for Dialogue and Deliberation and on the advisory boards of organizations such as IssueVoter and Unify America.
