Biography

Larry Wasserman is a University Professor in the Department of Statistics and the Machine Learning Department at Carnegie Mellon University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in 1988. Wasserman was awarded the COPSS Presidents’ Award in 1999 for being an outstanding statistician under the age of 40, as well as the CRM-SSC Prize in 2002. He is an elected fellow of the American Statistical Association, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. His research papers focus on nonparametric inference, asymptotic theory, causality, and applications of statistics in astrophysics, bioinformatics, and genetics. Additionally, he has authored advanced statistics textbooks, including 'All Statistics' and 'All Nonparametric Statistics.'
