Biography

Lars Christensen is a visiting researcher at the University of Copenhagen, focusing on Lifecourse Nutrition & Health. His research explores the interactions between nutrition, gut microbiota, and host metabolism. Lars has experience as an MSc student research assistant, where he investigated the effects of dietary interventions, such as breast milk, on infant gut microbiota health. Currently, he is actively researching personalized weight management, with a specific emphasis on weight loss prediction through gut microbiota and digestive genes. Throughout his career, he has conducted five independent studies that demonstrated how the microbial biomarker, Prevotella enterotype, can predict weight loss in overweight subjects consuming specific dietary fibers. He aims to further this research through a randomized controlled trial in 2022. Additionally, Lars has served as a sports nutrition practitioner, working with professional football teams competing in the Superliga and European tournaments, as well as the Danish national BMX team and individual professional cyclists.
