Biography

Lars Davidson is a Full Professor in Fluid Dynamics and Mechanics at Chalmers University of Technology. His research primarily focuses on computational fluid dynamics and heat convective transfer utilizing finite volume computations. Lars has been heavily involved in developing in-house finite volume codes, including CALC-BVC and CALC-LES, which are integral to his group's research. His work emphasizes turbulence modeling for fluid flows and heat transfer, with a significant current concentration on Large Eddy Simulations (LES). Recently, Lars has been investigating hybrid approaches combining LES with Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) methods, aiming to utilize LES for wall-bounded flows at high Reynolds numbers. In 2022, he initiated research on applying Machine Learning techniques to enhance wall functions in turbulence models.
