Biography

Lars Ehlers joined Université de Montréal in 2001. He earned his PhD in Economics from the University of Maastricht in 2001 and completed his Mathematics degree at the University of Technology Aachen in 1997. Ehlers is an elected president of the Society for Economic Design (2016-2022) and is a member of the Council for the Game Theory Society as well as the Council for the Society for Social Choice Welfare. In both the 2003 and 2023 SSHRC Standard Research Grants competitions, his research proposal was ranked first in Canada. He received the Marcel-Dagenais Prize from the Canadian Economic Association in recognition of his significant contribution to economic science in French-speaking Canada in 2021. Ehlers has also been awarded the 6th Social Choice Welfare Prize by the Society for Social Choice Welfare in 2012. He organizes the Microeconomic Theory Group at CIREQ and has served as an associate editor for several journals including Games and Economic Behavior and the Review of Economic Design.
