Biography

Lars Hinrichs is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his Ph.D. in English Linguistics from the University of Freiburg in 2006. His research interests include Sociolinguistics, Corpus Linguistics, Contact Linguistics, Pidgins, Creoles, and Computer-Mediated Communication. Hinrichs has conducted extensive research on the English used in Texas, particularly focusing on Texas English and urban contact dialects. He directs the Texas English Project and has studied the syntactic differences between British and American written English from a statistical perspective. Joining UT's English department in 2007, he has been actively involved in teaching various courses including Intro to English Language and World Literature.
