Biography

Lars Lochstoer is a professor of finance at UCLA Anderson School of Management. He teaches courses such as Empirical Methods in Finance, Data Analytics, and Machine Learning as part of the Master of Financial Engineering program. His research focuses on understanding the economic mechanisms that drive asset prices, the dynamic behavior of stock market returns, and the cross-section of stock returns and exchange rates in commodity markets. He has published in prestigious economics and business journals, including the American Economic Review, Journal of Finance, and Management Science. Prior to his position at UCLA, Lars held faculty positions at the London Business School and Columbia University, and also served on the Asset Allocation Advisory Committee of the Norwegian Sovereign Wealth Fund from 2016 to 2022. He is a research associate with the asset pricing group at the National Bureau of Economic Research and has acted as an associate editor for the Review of Financial Studies and the Review of Finance.
