Biography

Lateef began his career helping in the field 25 years ago. His work has spanned community, acute care, and both private and public sectors, including outpatient services, Intensive Outpatient programs (IOP), and Day Hospital training. He has extensive clinical experience with addictions and mental health issues across adolescent and adult populations in a wide range of settings. As a Clinical Supervisor, Clinician, Educator, and Trainer, his therapeutic work focuses on balancing acceptance and change for clients, developing skills to enhance their capacity. His therapeutic approach is grounded in compassion and collaboration, recognizing individuals' resilience and inherent wisdom. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor (Teaching) at the University of Calgary's Faculty of Social Work, inspiring and being inspired by students and colleagues. Additionally, Lateef is a skilled psychotherapist who provides Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness practices, and Motivational Interviewing, among others, to treat patients dealing with Anxiety, Addictions, Eating Disorders, and Mood Disorders.
