Biography

Laura Antona is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education at the London School of Economics and Political Science. As a critical feminist human geographer, her work engages with feminist political economy, urban geography, critical migration studies, and methodological innovation. Her research primarily focuses on labor, migration, gender, and violence in Southeast Asia and Europe. Laura holds a PhD in Human Geography from the London School of Economics and Political Science, as well as an MSc and BSc from University College London. With over a decade of research experience in Southeast Asia, she has conducted prolonged ethnographic fieldwork. Currently, she is working on a book project that explores the experiences of women subjected to forced migration in Southeast Asia. She is also involved in a collaborative project with Sneha Krishnan from the University of Oxford, examining the abolition of domesticities. Laura's work includes research funded by the ESRC during her Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Oxford's School of Geography and the Environment. Additionally, she has begun archival ethnographic research on the legacy of forced migration in Cyprus. Laura has published in notable venues such as Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers and Annals of the American Association of Geographers.
