Biography

Laura Antona is an Assistant Professor in Education and Human Geography at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where she focuses on critical feminist human geography. Her work draws and contributes to feminist political economy, urban geography, and critical migration studies, with a significant emphasis on methodological innovation. Her research primarily explores themes of labor, migration, gender, and violence in Southeast Asia and Europe. With over a decade of experience conducting prolonged ethnographic fieldwork in Southeast Asia, Laura is currently working on a book project that examines the experiences of women affected by forced migrant removal in the region. Additionally, she is engaged in a collaborative project with Sneha Krishnan from the University of Oxford, which focuses on the abolition of domesticities. Laura's previous research conducted during her ESRC Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Oxford's School of Geography and the Environment built upon these themes. Recently, she has begun archival ethnographic research on the legacy of forced migration in Cyprus. Her published work can be found in various academic venues including Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers, Annals of the American Association of Geographers, and Environment and Planning D: Society and Space.
