Dr. Laura Chen

Biography

Laura Chen is an Assistant Professor and Associate Director of the Phase 3 Pediatrics Inpatient Acting Internship at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned her medical degree from the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. Dr. Chen has extensive training in pediatrics, having completed her residency at Seattle Children’s Hospital, where she also served as Chief Resident. She is deeply passionate about medical education and has received multiple teaching awards, including the Clinical Teacher Award from the University of Wisconsin’s Family Medicine Residency in 2022. Her clinical interests focus on providing evidence-based, high-quality care to hospitalized pediatric patients, particularly those with complex medical needs. Additionally, her research interests center on developing strategies to reduce hospitalizations for children with medical complexity, applying quality improvement methods to enhance care for patients who speak languages other than English.
