Biography

Laura Q.M. Chow is an Affiliate Faculty member at Dell Medical School, with a background in pharmacology and therapeutics that inspired her career in oncology. She has spent over nine years as an associate director for a phase developmental therapeutics program, focusing on lung and head and neck malignancies at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Chow has also been an associate member of clinical research at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and served as a professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Oncology, at the University of Washington. Her extensive clinical trials experience includes a strong background in clinical pharmacology and developmental therapeutics. She has a national and international reputation for her research, concentrating on novel therapeutics and early phase clinical trials, particularly in immunotherapy for head and neck cancers, thyroid cancers, and lung cancers. Chow has played a critical role in the development and regulatory approval of PD-1 immune-checkpoint inhibitors as standard-of-care treatments. She is the lead principal investigator on 40 early phase thoracic and head and neck cancer trials and has authored 65 publications in high-impact journals. In addition to her professional work, Chow enjoys teaching and strongly believes in patient-centered clinical care. She is fluent in Cantonese and converses in French alongside her interests in running, cycling, fitness classes, cooking, and spending time with her husband and son.
