Biography

Laura DeNardo is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She received dual BAs in Molecular Cell Biology and Art Practice from the University of California, Berkeley in 2007. Dr. DeNardo completed her Ph.D. in Neurosciences at the University of California, San Diego, where she worked under Dr. Anirvan Ghosh. Her graduate research focused on elucidating the mechanisms governing the development and function of hippocampal synapses. In 2013, she began a postdoctoral fellowship in Dr. Liqun Luo's lab at Stanford University, where she utilized viral-genetic tools to map cortical microcircuits, particularly focusing on the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC). Dr. DeNardo's research is aimed at understanding how neuronal circuits control behavior and the developmental processes of these circuits, particularly in relation to psychiatric disorders. She established her lab at UCLA in January 2019.
