Biography

Laura Dickens earned her medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. She completed her Internal Medicine residency and Endocrinology fellowship at the University of Chicago. Since 2019, she has been a faculty member in the Section of Endocrinology at the University of Chicago. Her clinical interests encompass diabetes and osteoporosis. She co-founded the University of Chicago Diabetes in Pregnancy Clinic (DIPP), which serves as a centralized specialty care program for patients with pregestational Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, as well as complex gestational diabetes during pregnancy. The DIPP program integrates patient care, education, and research initiatives aimed at enhancing diabetes care during pregnancy. In addition to her clinical duties, Dickens holds the position of Associate Program Director for the Endocrinology Fellowship. She is actively involved in research concerning monogenic diabetes and quality improvement efforts related to diabetes in pregnancy.
