Laura Gagné earned an MA from Queen's University under the supervision of Dietmar Hagel, and was awarded the Humanities Outstanding Thesis Award for her thesis on "Abstraction in Mycenaean Art: A New Look at Plant and Animal Representations in the Shaft Graves of Mycenae." Her research interests encompass a wide range of topics within archaeology, including Childhood Studies, Ceramic Technology, Ancient Greek Art, Ancient Greek History, Mortuary Ritual, and Iconography. Gagné has a particular focus on the Power Dynamics associated with the Shaft Graves of Mycenae, as well as the Bronze and Iron Age contexts of Cyprus and the Aegean regions. Her work includes articles and book chapters on various topics such as prehistoric pottery and the implications of learning to make pottery in ancient workshops.
