Dr. Laura Giron Arango is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Toronto. She has published on nerve-sparing techniques in hip and knee surgery, including the PENG block, iPACK block, and adductor canal block, and is leading research at Women’s College Hospital that aims to improve perioperative care for patients undergoing Penile Inversion Vaginoplasty with regional anesthesia techniques. Her additional research interests include the perioperative assessment of the diaphragm using gastric ultrasound for patients at high risk of aspiration, particularly those on GLP-1 receptor agonists. Through her work, Dr. Giron Arango seeks to advance perioperative safety, enhance individualized pain control, and integrate ultrasound into routine anesthetic practice.
