Biography

Laura Goldstein is an Emeritus Professor of Clinical Neuropsychology at King's College London. She joined the Psychology Department in 1987, primarily focusing on clinical work at the South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. With her retirement in September 2024, Laura has significantly contributed to the understanding of neuropsychological and psychological consequences of neurological disorders, particularly motor neuron disease and epilepsy. Among her key involvements was leading the NIHR HTA-funded CODES Trial, which studied cognitive behavioral therapy for patients with dissociative seizures. Laura is also recognized for her role in postgraduate training in clinical neuropsychology in the UK. She has co-edited influential books in neuropsychology and has been a founding member of the Functional Neurological Disorder Society. Her research interests include neuropsychology, motor neuron disease, and psychological interventions for neurological disorders. Laura is an award recipient of the 2021 Barbara Wilson Lifetime Achievement Award from the British Psychological Society’s Division of Neuropsychology.
