Dr. Laura Huckins

Biography

Laura Huckins is an Associate Professor at Yale School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry. She holds a PhD in Molecular Biology with a focus on Psychiatric Genetics from the University of Cambridge, obtained in 2015, and a master's degree in BioEngineering from Imperial College London, awarded in 2011. Dr. Huckins' research primarily examines psychiatric disorders, particularly focusing on eating disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She leads the Huckins Lab where they explore multi-omic methods to interpret the functional consequences of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) variants. Her lab is dedicated to understanding psychiatric traits, with specific attention to disorders affecting women, children, and vulnerable populations, reflecting her commitment to addressing the critical lack of research in these areas. Moreover, she has received funding from prominent organizations such as the Klarman Family Foundation and the National Institute of Mental Health. Dr. Huckins is an active member of the research community, engaged in international collaborations and contributing to advancements in understanding the genetic underpinnings of psychiatric disorders.
