Dr. Laura Humphrys earned an integrated master's degree in neuroscience from the University of Nottingham, UK, which included a year at the University of Melbourne, Australia, from 2011 to 2015. She was awarded the AJ Clark Studentship by the British Pharmacological Society in 2015 and conducted postgraduate research on light-activated cell membrane receptors. She completed her PhD focusing on the optogenetic G protein coupled receptors and their spatiotemporal signaling from October 2015 to September 2019 at the University of Nottingham. After her PhD, Laura was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Regensburg, Germany, from October 2019 to December 2022, where she specialized in peptide-based medicinal chemistry, molecular biology, and CRISPR gene editing. In 2023, she joined the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, investigating metabolic receptor pharmacology under the guidance of Professors Denise Wootten and Patrick Sexton. Her research interests include the visualization and genetic modification of cell receptors in physiologically relevant cells.
