Dr. Laura Macgregor

Biography

Laura Macgregor holds the Chair of Scots Law at Edinburgh Law School, a position she has held since July 1, 2020. With a background as a solicitor in a prominent Scottish law firm, she transitioned into academia, beginning her lecturing career at Glasgow Law School before joining Edinburgh Law School in 2002. Macgregor is a member of the REF Sub-Panel 18 and welcomes Ph.D. enquiries related to her fields of interest, which include agency law, partnership law, and contract law within a European context. She has authored the distinguished monograph 'Agency Law Scotland', published within the Scottish Universities Law Institute Series, and is currently working on a project concerning partnership law, which includes her recent article 'Partnerships Legal Personality: Cautionary Tale Scotland'. Macgregor is actively engaged with the Edinburgh Centre for Commercial Law, striving to forge strong connections between academia and the Scottish legal community. She has edited several collaborative projects in the realm of European private law and has significant interaction with the legal profession through CPD training, having designed courses like 'Contract Law Update', offered both online and across multiple Scottish cities. Her research interests focus on commercial law, particularly contract law, agency law, partnership law, and legal history.
