Dr. Laura Mcleod

Biography

Laura Mcleod is a Senior Lecturer in International Politics at the University of Manchester and serves as the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Director for the Politics department. She has been a trustee and EDI Officer at the British International Studies Association (BISA). Her research and teaching interests revolve around gender, feminism, security, and peacebuilding in post-conflict contexts, with a keen focus on the United Nations Security Council's Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda. Laura's scholarly contributions include published work in prestigious journals such as the European Journal of International Relations and Security Dialogue. She has also authored a book titled 'Gender Politics Security Discourse: Personal-political imaginations of feminism in 'post-conflict' Serbia', published by Routledge. Laura's research endeavors have explored the intersection of gender and peacebuilding, particularly in relation to the implementation of the WPS agenda and the involvement of various actors in achieving feminist peace. She has completed significant research projects funded by the British Academy, examining the indicators of WPS and collaborating on feminist interventions in critical peace studies. Additionally, she is a member of the editorial board for the International Feminist Journal of Politics and has held various roles in academic and research collaborations. Laura is dedicated to mentoring PhD students and teaching courses on gender, war, and peace at the undergraduate and master's levels.
