Biography

Laura Quick completed her doctorate in Hebrew Bible at the University of Oxford before taking an Assistant Professorship in Religion and Judaic Studies at Princeton University in Autumn 2017. In 2019, she returned to Oxford, where she currently serves as an Associate Professor of Hebrew Bible and Tutorial Fellow specializing in Theology and Religion. Her research interests focus primarily on the Hebrew Bible and its background in ancient Near Eastern literary culture. Quick's work seeks to recover the value of concepts and aesthetic judgments present in ancient Near Eastern literature and texts. Her research encompasses historical interpretation, comparative methodologies, material culture, embodiment, and gender issues as they relate to the ancient Near East. At present, she is researching concepts of beauty and aesthetics within the ancient Eastern Mediterranean.
