Biography

Laura studied design directing at Baylor University and completed her studies in costume design technology at the University of Missouri in the Kansas City area. After her graduation, she enhanced her skills through private instruction in tailoring for theater, particularly with Bob Trump in St. Louis. After moving to the State College area, she worked as a freelance theatrical tailor and draper for fifteen years before joining Penn State in 2006. Her areas of specialization include tailoring, draping, patternmaking, period knitwear, and the history of fashion. Laura has credits in regional theater and opera, including multiple shows at Goodman Theatre, Repertory Theatre St. Louis, Opera Theatre St. Louis, Kansas City Repertory Theatre, Utah Shakespeare Festival, Long Wharf Theatre, Hartford Stage, Washington National Opera, Walnut Street Theatre, and Philadelphia Theatre Company. Her work also includes credits in New York, where she participated in multiple productions, including Susan Hilferty's original production of Spring Awakening and the revival of Assassins at Roundabout Theatre.
