Biography

Laura M. Scott is an experienced legal academic and the Assistant Director of Reference, Clinics, and Outreach at Duke University School of Law. She teaches introductory and advanced legal research courses, providing students with essential skills in legal analysis and writing. Ms. Scott holds an undergraduate degree in history from Duke University and a J.D. from New York University School of Law. After graduating from law school, she practiced law in the litigation and bankruptcy departments at Choate, Hall & Stewart in Boston, Massachusetts. Ms. Scott further enhanced her expertise by obtaining an M.S.L.S. from Simmons College, after which she served as Choate's reference librarian for five years. She joined Duke Law as a reference librarian in August 2005. Throughout her career, Ms. Scott has been an active member of the Massachusetts Bar, and she is also affiliated with the American Association of Law Libraries and the Southeastern Association of Law Libraries.
