Laura Tach is a sociologist who studies urban poverty and family life through mixed-methods research. Her work examines how neighborhoods and families reproduce inequality, as well as the effects of public policy on these processes. She co-directs the Cornell Project 2Gen, an initiative of the Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research, which serves as a hub for research, policy, and practice that supports vulnerable caregivers and children. Laura earned her Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Policy from Harvard University in 2010. Before joining the Department of Policy Analysis and Management at Cornell University, she was a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research interests include poverty, public policy, family demography, and neighborhood inequality.
